The affiliates are compensated based on the clicks being made into their ads. Yahoo is paid a specified amount by the advertisers once clicks have been made in the ads. Then Yahoo will forward to the affiliate through check the money owed minus their share out of it. The payment is usually made once a month. Yahoo also helps advertisers in their marketing by providing them with tools that will let you the track the amount of money you will be getting for an ad. You will notice that different ads comes in different prices. There are some that comes in a much higher commission compared to others.
